QuestPrehab Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP)

Introduction
QuestPrehab is committed to environmental sustainability and to supporting the UK’s net zero ambitions. We publish this Carbon Reduction Plan voluntarily, in the spirit of Procurement Policy Note PPN 006 and the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap, and review it at least every 12 months. By minimising travel, paper use, and physical resource consumption while ensuring equitable patient access, QuestPrehab leads in environmentally responsible healthcare technology innovation.
Our commitment to Net Zero
- We commit to achieving Net Zero for our UK operations by 2050, in line with the UK’s legally binding target and PPN 006.
- In support of our NHS customers, we align with the NHS net zero ambitions: net zero by 2040 for the emissions we control, and by 2045 for the emissions we can influence.
Our carbon footprint
QuestPrehab operates a fully remote, paperless, cloud-based model with no offices and no company vehicles. As a result, our direct (Scope 1) and purchased-energy (Scope 2) emissions are zero, and our overall footprint is very low. Our estimated baseline footprint for 2025/26 is set out below.
| Emissions scope | Source | tCO2e (estimated) |
| Scope 1 | Direct (premises fuel, vehicles) | 0.0 |
| Scope 2 | Purchased electricity (premises) | 0.0 |
| Scope 3 | Value chain (home-working energy, cloud services, IT equipment, minimal rail travel and waste) | ~4.4 |
| Total | Gross operational footprint | ~4.4 |
Figures are good-faith estimates modelled from our operating profile using UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors, and are refined at each annual review.
The carbon our service saves
Beyond our own low footprint, QuestPrehab’s digital service actively avoids emissions. By delivering prehabilitation at home, we remove the need for patients to travel to hospital for appointments – saving, on average, more than 200 miles of patient car travel per patient.
| For the current period | Estimated |
| Avoided patient travel (approx. 1,250 patients × 200+ miles) | ~42.5 tCO2e avoided |
| Compared with our own operational footprint | ~10× more saved than emitted |
In other words, our service avoids roughly ten times the carbon we emit – and this positive contribution grows as more patients are supported. We also avoid paper and printing through fully electronic records. In line with good practice, avoided emissions are reported separately and are not deducted from our footprint.
What we do to reduce our impact
- Operate a fully remote, office-free business – no premises to heat, cool or power.
- Use public transport only – no company vehicles.
- Host on UK-based cloud infrastructure powered by renewable energy.
- Run paperless operations with electronic records and communications.
- Manage IT equipment responsibly to minimise electronic waste.
- Measure our footprint annually and reduce our emissions intensity as we grow.
